After just announcing that YWAM Ships Newcastle will be taking on operations of the s/y RUACH, we are excited to share about yet another vessel! We are proud to introduce the s/v Rakiura! This latest vessel was made possible by the generosity of Bevan & Julie Thomas.
“This amazing gift was owned and operated by the Thomas,’ of Christchurch New Zealand. They and their whole family, lived aboard the vessel for many years while simultaneously running her as a charter vessel in Cairns Queensland. After doing a DTS with YWAM around thirty years ago they continued to observe YWAM’s activities with interest, deciding to gift us the Lidgard 51 footer in March this year. The s/v Rakiura is currently docked north of us in the city of Bundaberg and the plan is to have her sail down to Newcastle in the next few weeks. From there the vessel will be used to help us promote the newly formed YWAM Ships Newcastle. We are so excited to present both the s/y Ruach and the s/v Rakiura to the public in Newcastle later in 2016.
